Hipcamp is the 'Airbnb' of unique camping experiences. Discover what it's all about and snag a sweet discount for your first trip!
Ryan and I booked our first-ever Hipcamp site on a trip to Colorado in the summer of 2017 and I can’t express what an adventure it was. We ended up in the middle of a cattle drive, took an outdoor shower powered by compost (which is more refreshing than you might think), and were close enough to the New Mexico border to make an impromptu drive into a new state!
If you’re up for a really fun, wild, and refreshing experience, staying on a Hipcamp site might be the perfect addition to your trip. Or, a reason to take a trip altogether!
What's it all about?
First things first, what exactly is Hipcamp? I like to describe Hipcamp as the 'Airbnb' of cool campsites throughout the United States. But I’m not talking about like, a KOA. Hipcamp isn't the place to find camping like that.
According to Hipcamp's website, you can “book unique camping experiences on over 300,000 campsites, ranches, vineyards, public parks, and more.” Camping experiences is a much more accurate way to describe what you can book through Hipcamp, and every site is so unique! You could be in your own tent on a working farm, or in an RV in the middle of the desert. The variety of experiences is incredible; you can book cabins, glamping sites, RVs, and more in addition to tent spaces.
Camping experiences all across America
You can find Hipcamp camping experiences across all 50 states, and I'm talking everywhere, not just the popular national parks and tourist destinations! We've stayed at a remote homestead in southern Colorado, a yurt just a few miles from the Canadian border, and a hillside in rural Idaho!
And while Hipcamp is an amazing resource for planning road trips or far-away camping trips, it's also perfect for a quick staycation too! You can easily search for top spots near you with availability for 'tonight,' 'this weekend,' or 'next weekend.' But of course, you can always enter dates manually as well! Hipcamp's mantra is 'Find Yourself Outside,' which means even in your own backyard; you don't need to travel across the country to have a satisfying camping experience!
Camping for everyone!
Here's the cool thing. You don't have to be a hardcore, " rugged" type of camping person to benefit from Hipcamp. There are campsites for literally every type of person and every style of trip! Utilizing the filters on Hipcamp when searching for a campsite will help you find the exact type of experience you're looking for. You can filter sites by which amenities they offer (like toilets, WiFi, and water), what sorts of activities are offered (like biking, boating, and horseback riding), and what kind of terrain the site is on (like forest, desert, and even cave)! You can also try the 'Glamping' filter - it'll bring up lodging options like tiny homes, cabins, and glamping tents!
If I haven’t yet convinced you that Hipcamp is worth checking out, here’s $10 toward your first trip that might sway you a little bit! 🙂 If you decide to book a site, link it in the comments below so we can get some outdoor inspiration flowing! See you outside, friends!
P.S. if you're a property owner and are interested in welcoming guests as a Hipcamp host, you'll earn $100 after you make your first booking! If you're interested, you can sign up here.
